Brendan Armstrong

Peer Mentor

“Whether you think you can or think you can’t, you’re right.”
–Henry Ford

What do you do at Northwoods?

I am a residential counselor, and this includes a handful of different responsibilities. I provide an ear for the students and offer advice through peer counseling. I oversee the day-to-day schedule and ensure the group stays on task and on time. I mitigate conflict and make sure the group gets along.

I also lead a daily gratitude and meditation practice, as it is something I’ve found to be immensely helpful in my own journey through recovery.

What is your experience?

I started my career working with several technology start ups, but most recently I have spent time working on an organic farm and studying at the San Francisco zen center.

Why do you work at Northwoods?

I am a former student of Northwoods and have had my share of life challenges to overcome. This program changed my life, and it is an honor to be able to give back and help others learn the same life skills I learned here.
